Discussion:
A few isolated showers and storms are possible during the afternoon, but much of the day will be dry.
There is only a 20 to 30% chance for an isolated shower.
Rain chances improve late tonight as a cold front approaches from the northwest. A more organized cluster of storms will move in after midnight and linger through Thursday morning.
Storms will weaken a bit as they move south toward the Atlanta metro area, but areas of stronger convection are still possible.
Storms tonight may be capable of producing gusty winds, heavy rain, and hail. The tornado threat is low, but we can't rule out a brief spin-up.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed a slight (level 2) risk for severe thunderstorms across North GA. The Atlanta metro is included in the lower marginal (level 1) risk.
A lull in rain is expected for the middle of the day, but a second round of rain could develop and move in later Thursday evening through the overnight. These storms will come with a similar severe weather threat, and our entire area is included in the slight (level 2) risk.
Rain clears out Friday behind the passing cold front, and cooler, drier air will quickly move in behind it.
Highs fall into the 70s for the weekend, and a little morning chill returns with lows in the 50s.
